Souled Out Band: Featuring Kelleen (by Request)
With a voice described as "silky-smooth" and a debut CD that "sounds like it came from a major record label," Kelleen has embarked on an exciting journey as a unique solo artist. Simply Beautiful, which features over 30 of Indianapolis’ finest musicians, received high accolades from Indianapolis’ top DJs and local publications and continues to sell both nationally and internationally.
Recently, Kelleen was featured as guest vocalist with the Buselli Wallarab Jazz Orchestra on their CD recording An Old Soul which was one of the Top 10 Recordings of 2009 in Jazziz Magazine. Her performance on the project has been described as “seductive” and “slinky and earthily sirenic, breathy and erotic…”.
She has been featured at numerous special events including The Rose Awards at the Indianapolis Convention Center, The Music, Martin, and Me at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, LotzaJazz at Washington Park, Hot Licks, Cool Chics at the Indiana History Center, and the Ronald McDonald House at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.
Last year, Ms. Strutz was honored to perform as featured artist at a concert fundraiser for Optimist International in Barbados sponsored by the United States Embassy. Ms. Strutz is also an accomplished pianist and received a full scholarship to pursue her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Piano Performance from Butler University studying with artist-in-residence Panayis Lyras.
She has performed as guest soloist with numerous orchestras, conducted piano accompaniment master classes in Hong Kong, has collaborated with nationally renowned flutists William Bennett (London, UK) and James Walker (Los Angeles, CA), and accompanies opera star, Ms. Angela Brown.
